Experienced Baker

Location: Oakville, Ontario

Position Type: Full-Time

We are a growing high-production bakery specializing in the manufacturing of premium, health-conscious consumer packaged goods. As we scale up our operations, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Baker with a strong background in high-volume production. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to support and streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and uphold our strict quality, health, and safety standards. This is an opportunity to play a key role in optimizing production, packaging, and distribution in a rapidly expanding business. This position is ideal for someone with leadership potential who is ready to grow into a more senior role.

Key Responsibilities:

Baking & Production:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of muffins and other baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure consistency in product quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Manage production schedules to meet daily and weekly demand, optimizing workflows for efficiency.
  • Operate and maintain bakery equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery are in proper working order.

Leadership & Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to the optimization of bakery operations as we scale up production.
  • Support and implement process improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining product integrity.
  • Train and support junior baking staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Work closely with the owner and team to enhance production, packaging, and distribution workflows.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of our HACCP program, ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations.
  • Adhere to and promote best practices in sanitation and workplace safety.
  • Monitor inventory and ingredient storage to uphold food safety standards and minimize waste.

Packaging, Distribution & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee packaging and labeling of consumer-packaged goods for retail and wholesale distribution.
  • Assist in streamlining packaging and order fulfillment processes to meet growing demand.
  • Manage receiving and inventory of raw ingredients and final product in collaboration with the team.
  • Order ingredients and supplies to maintain efficient production.

Customer Service and Cafe Operations:

  • Open and close the retail bakery and cafe.
  • Take and fulfill customers' orders.
  • Prepare espresso and non-espresso beverages according to the proper recipes.
  • Use and maintain coffee and espresso equipment.
  • Ensure coffee and espresso counter is stocked, and order items that need to be replenished.
  • Operate and balance cash.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-production bakery environment, preferably in consumer packaged goods.
  • Strong understanding of bakery production processes and efficiency optimization.
  • Current and valid Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Exposure to HACCP practices and food safety compliance.
  • Leadership potential with an interest in growing into a senior role.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Passion for high-quality, nutritious baked goods.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting wage: $17.60–$22/hour, depending on experience plus tips.

    Bakery Assistant

    Location: Oakville, Ontario

    Position Type: Internship/Co-Op

    We are looking for our next rising stars - high school, college or university students who want to gain work experience in the fields of culinary management, culinary arts, entrepreneurship or food and beverage services. 

    The Bakery Assistant will primarily be responsible for the following activities:

    • Preparing muffin tins and liners.
    • Washing, sanitizing and organizing dishes, equipment, bowls, pans, etc.
    • Assisting the baking team with measuring and mixing ingredients, safely receiving and storing ingredients, and baking a variety of health-focused baked goods.
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the bakery and café, including sweeping, mopping, wiping tables and counters, and other similar cleaning activities as may be requested.
    • Packaging and displaying baked goods. 
    • Helping to prepare deliveries and shipments.
    • Helping with taking and fulfilling customer orders.
    • Making beverages for customer orders.
    • Having a great attitude and spirit - compassion and care for our customers and team members.

    Qualifications
    A successful candidate will be enrolled in a qualifying program at an accredited high school, university or college in Ontario that supports work placement opportunities. Training will be provided.
