Assistant Store Manager

The Assistant Store Manager will work with speed, care and compassion to ensure our customers feel welcome, cared for and well-served in our Muffin Bakery and Café. You will be primarily responsible for serving customers by ensuring adequate muffins are displayed and by preparing hot and cold coffee and tea beverages. You will oversee baristas and customer service staff assigned to your shift.

No direct experience is required, as we will provide training. Maturity, the ability to quickly solve problems, some business and financial acumen, and a good sense of humour are useful for this role.

Compensation: $32,000 -$35,000 per year to start (commensurate with experience), plus tips, benefits, profit sharing, and free food/beverage, as well as 3 weeks paid vacation, prorated in first year based on start date

Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday - 7 am to 4 pm, 30 minutes of break time per day (4 day work week)

Sick days/bereavement days: as needed 

Responsibilities:

  • Opening and closing the store
  • Warming / baking and displaying muffins/food items
  • Providing customer service including cashier, barista, customer complaint resolution in store, and responding to online and phone support requests during store hours
  • Taking and scheduling catering orders 
  • Assisting with online and in-store inventory of all beverage products and supplies
  • Assisting with food inventory and supplies
  • Maintaining health and safety compliance of the store, ensuring the space is clean and sanitized appropriately 
  • Maintaining a current and unexpired Food Handlers certificate, and ensuring a certified food handler is on site at all times during store hours
  • Assisting in the hiring, training and managing of baristas and in store customer service staff as we grow busier
  • Balancing cash/credit receipts and paying out tips at the end of each day
  • Having a great attitude and spirit - compassion and care for our customers and team members

The Assistant Store Manager role prepares the individual to eventually become Store Manager with responsibility for store profitability, customer growth and employees.

Part Time Team Member

The Part Time Team Member will work with speed, care and compassion to ensure our customers feel welcome, cared for and well-served in our Muffin Bakery and Café. You will be primarily responsible for taking orders and payment, and preparing hot and cold coffee and tea beverages. 

No direct experience is required, as we will provide training. The ability to quickly solve problems, get along with others, handle payments/cash, and a good sense of humour are useful for this role.

Compensation: $16-$18/hour to start (commensurate with experience), plus tips, benefits, profit sharing, and free food/beverage

Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 5 hours per day, start time still to be determined
